Well I wasn't going to ask this, because in all honesty I was a little shy and embarrassed. But then I figured, I'd never know if this would be possible unless I asked. I have nothing to lose...
As many of you know, this is my last quarter at Fuller Theological Seminary. It has been an amazing journey, and God has opened up many doors in many ways. It has been a great time of not just learning about God, but of self-discovery as an artist, as a Christian, and as an African American woman. An opportunity has come up for me to take the last of my courses--Spiritual Traditions and Practices and Medieval Art and Theology-- in Orvieto, Italy, and I would love it if you would partner with me to help me get there! There are several reasons why I want to take this trip:
1) For a long time, I have had a deep desire to go overseas, and even though I just turned 39 years old, it still hasn't happened yet. This trip would be a means for me to travel but still learn and make a difference.
2) Growing up, I never understood the concept that study abroad was for someone like me. I always thought that was an opportunity that didn't apply to me. Now that I know better, I want to take advantage of this experience at least once before I leave Fuller. The course will also allow us to interact with Christian Slatoff, a well known artist as he will be co-teaching the Medieval Art class.
3) As an artist, I recognize that this is a very unique opportunity. The history of Orvieto alone is worth the price of the trip. And I can see the value of learning about art and theology in an area surrounded by authentic medieval art.
What better way to culminate my Fuller experience than through this trip?!
If you would like to partner with me, please don't hesistate to give to my campaign! All funds will go directly toward the cost of my plane ticket, lodging and meals. The class will take place from June 19 - July 2, and the deadline to submit all money is May 23. I promise to take plenty of pictures and to share stories from my journey while I'm there and once I return. Thank you for your consideration, and even if you are not able to give at this time, your prayers that I would be able to live out this dream are greatly appreciated.
