Suzy's Immigration Hopes

Donation protected
Hi there,

Im really not sure where to start .... this is me swallowing my pride and putting my family and our future 1st rather than trying to do it all on my own.

Where to start? ... My name is Suzy & I live with my husband and our precious daughter Brooke who is all of 2 1/2 but runs our household for sure ha ha

We have so many blessings in our life but it has been a hard journey and currently our biggest struggle is me not having immigration - this means I can not have a US drivers licence so have been unable to drive, I cant be employed, I cant get health insurance, I cant get finance or even bank accounts in most cases.

This is an expensive process to get my immigration completed - as per my attorneys communications:
$1490 for the
* Petition for Alien Relative (I-130)
* Application to Adjust Status (I-485)
* plus the employment authorization (I-765)

$2050 in legal fees

*plus the medicals, tests, vaccinations etc

I am originally from New Zealand  where I was a succssful young business woman; from the age of 21 I set up my own business as a mortgage broker and property investor and through much hard work and determination my success grew ... as the global recession started to take its toll on the Property and Finance markets I came to the US in search of more opportunies for myself and my clients - never intending to live here full time.

Long Story short - I ended up meeting Daniel (my now husband) we fell in love, he asked me to stay and build a life with him and so we did ... we had saved smartly and with some contributions from family we had a beautiful small wedding Jan 1st 2011.

We had planned to be able to use what little savings we had left to get my immigration and hopefully start a family BUT soon after our wedding we were Amazed to find out that little Baby Brooke was on the way :) we were so excited however we soon found out that my husbands insurance company who had 1st told us I would be insured once we got married suddenly said "opps sorry not until she has US residency" ... as you can imagine we were excited about this amazing journey in our life but afraid of the pending medical bills. Sure enough all our savings that were put aside for immigration quickly dissapeared to OBGYN appointments, ultrasounds, hospital visits and then finally the birth ....

Soon after that we started saving again only to have my husbands work vehicle need a new engine! So there again we were back to square one.

Soon after that we made the decision to actually move into / camp out of some of the propeties we were getting ready for clients all so that we could save money and we could work by night to get the work completed faster ... we lived with no hot water for over 1 year, sometimes we lived with no windows, no ac or heat, sometimes no water at all ... it was a nightmare but we were doing it for our families future, we sacrificed EVERYTHING to save and move forward but sadly at this same time the recession continued to spiral for us, I could no longer send money back home to NZ to support my properties and business ... I had to let it all go ... I lost EVERYTHING.

We were so blessed to have family help us out of there and into our own home although again without my immigration I had no credit so owner financing was our only option so we pay extremely high interest rates - but we are safe, we are grateful, blessed and again trying to move forward.

Around this same time I began having health issues caused by the stress of the last few years and again having no immigration and insurance all hospital and doctors, specialists and medication had to come out of pocket.

We are now at a point where I am managing my health and we are again working so very hard to save every cent we can as without my immigration I can not be employed, I can not drive, I cant be insured, My husband cant even claim me on his taxes ... so by not having the money to get the immigration it in fact is costing us MORE money ... it has been such a vicious cycle but we do our best. My husband has 2 jobs so we can save and I am a Photographer and stay at home mom with a small online Boutique aswell where I sell hand made product that I make myself.

I work from my at home studio most of the time (as I am not allowed to drive without the immigration) and when I need to meet clients for shoots, weddings, events etc or if I am showing my art in gallery shows my husband will take time off to drive me which inturn costs us wages he could have been earning ... I just feel like we are stuck in this constant cycle like we are swimming against the current but getting nowhere.

Friends have told me for so long I should set up an account on here to help fundraise but the idea made me felt ill ... I feel sick asking for help but I am now feeling that without it we will forever live in this perpetual cycle ... I know once I have my immigration, I can drive, I can work, I can allow my photography business to flourish, we can build a credit rating for me and refinance our home to 1/3 of the interest we are paying now. We can spend more time as a family instead of having my husband at work 7 days a week and me stuck in my office at all hours to make a dime to contribute to our family, I can take my Fine Art Photography further and help inspire others ... All I need is a hand UP to help us make that a reality.

I am not afraid to work we have done it on our own the hard way all this time (with amazing support from our families of course) ... we are now just trying to work smarter with your help.

I am not asking for charity just a little help ... in exchange for support I am offering my skills, products and time in return in the way of Gift certificates for my Photography, Art pieces and Boutique items...
