Jet Jones Colic Surgery Fund

Well, where to start. I've had Jet for 2 years now, and I can honestly say he is the best thing to have ever happened to me. I love that horse with my heart and soul, and would do anything for him. Jet Jones is an 18 year old holstiener gelding. Most of you didn't know about Jet. He was a throw away horse that was known for steller performances and just as he was good at being good he was great at being bad.  Just when you think you're having a great round he would decide to stand up and wave to the crowd.  Not very many trainers or riders would take him on and when they did find him a match his x-rays said he had high and low ring bone.  Me, being the "poor kid" at the shows with the "hand me down clothes" came together with my once in a life time horse and we together became unstoppable. So when I got the call at 11:30 pm on April 23 by my trainer Jennifer Willson, I knew that there was something wrong. By 1 am, the vet looked him over and did everything we could to make him feel better. I then had to make the dreaded call to my parents who fund everything because I am an amateur in a working class family, and devote all my time to furthering my horse skills. Our vet told us to make sure he was comfortable and still doing okay. I went and checked on him at 4 am, and he was worse than before. So we walked him, gave him some time, and then called the vet to look or further instruction. By 5:15 am we were on our way to San Luis Rey Equine hosptial. At this point in time every memory, good and bad were rushing to my mind. And then came to thought, what I would do if I had to say goodbye to my best friend. We made the final decision to send him into surgey, regardless of if we had the money for it or not. So now here we are face deep in vet bills, but a healthy horse in the end. Anything any of you can do it help is more than appreciated. I am just so thankful I will get to spend more years with my horse of a lifetime.
