As most of you know Brittany Davis (Chavez) and her husband Joe are going through a difficult time right now. Joe Chavez has a life
threatening cancerous tumor on his kidney, and needs to have surgery within a month to have the tumor removed.
Two weeks ago they were suppose to go to texas because they are moving out there... but Joe woke up and was peeing blood
(sorry). After spending the day in the Emergency Room. They ended up finding a cancerous tumor on
his kidney. Its 5cm big.
After meeting with the Urologist (Kidney specialist), the doctor said from the CT scan,
there is a very very slim chance that the tumor is not cancer due to the
size. He said he would not wait longer than 45 days to have the surgery
to remove the tumor and kidney. He said it is possible that we only have to take half the
kidney, but he wont know until they are inside him and if the tumor is or is not
close to vessels, etc. The doctor told Joe that with the size of the tumor, that it has been there for at least five years. The tumor needs to come out before it spreads to other organs of his body.
The problem Brittany and Joe are having right now is that Joe
does not have insurance and the hospital will not do a payment plan for
anyone at Cedar Sinai so the hospital told them that they have to pay $34,071 to the hospital and $8,400 to the doctor before
the surgery. Both amounts have to be paid in full before the surgery. The doctor has been very helpful and is trying to find a hospital for them to do the surgery in that will allow payments, but their medical bills are still going to be extremely high either way.
Joe and Brittany
are giving, kind, and the most generous people I know. Many of you have
had the privilege to know Brittany and we all know she would do anything
to help if we needed her. They are the most amazing people and now is
the time when they need us. I hope we can all come together and help
this family with their financial issue. Think if 1000 of us donated only
$25 we could raise $25,000 dollars together. Think if this was your
dad, or your son going through this, you would pray that there were
people out there willing to help.
