Marsh&Ruby Web Series

Welcome to our GoFundMe Page! Thanks for stopping by! Here's a little bit of what we're about:

Marsh&Ruby began back in March of 2013 when, one night, I told my friend visiting from out of town about the first ever show I did in Los Angeles. Probably one of the most "out there" pieces of theatre I've ever done, I finished describing the insane show and made a joke (well, I laughed) and said to myself, 'I should put that in a web-series'. After jotting the words onto my computer, I put it away and went to bed. The next day, while sitting at my desk, bored and browsing the internet, I decided, 'Why not make a web-series?' I gave it some thought, called my two best friends, April and Louisa, and thus began the journey. Throughout the next year we brainstormed and collaborated, finally cultivating the project we have today. A read through in February 2014 with company members of Atwater Playhouse helped propel us further into pre-production and here we are, 8 days into filming with 7 left!

All of the cast and crew came together through connections made from previous projects. The reason behind this came not from a thought of, 'Oh, if they love us, they'll work for us', but a desire to help everyone involved. Since we are such a small project, it is not within our means to pay the cast or crew, but that doesn't mean we can't benefit from the fun we're having. In fact, while just over half of our main and supporting cast are in the union, those not already will now be eligible to join and audition for the prized paying jobs. Another bonus we receive is the experience and something to show others (casting directors, agents, directors, etc.) Though our production crew is little, they be mighty and they make us look good! But perhaps the biggest way we've been able to help the cast and crew is by networking; an invaluable tool every actor needs. From the connections made on this project, who knows where we'll be in a month, a year, or more?! Regardless, there are now more friends within our creative circle with whom we can collaborate and continue bringing original, fun, and honest work to you!

GoFundMe has been a WONDERFUL fundraising tool, allowing us to raise money over time and collect that money as we raise it. The support we've already received has been overwhelming, yet we still need a little more. Lighting equipment and feeding the generous cast and crew have taken up about 90% of our funds and we've managed to save money by cooking family style meals for the smaller sets (average of $35 a meal for 7-10 people), but we have 3 shoots coming up with cast and crew of 30+ people, plus a few sets to dress and makeup kits to replace. Every little bit helps and in truth, this could not be done without you.
