The Jackson Family in a time of need

This was never the story that anyone would want to tell… Most people who know John, know him for his contagious smile and willingness to help others.

8 years ago John had a suspicious mole on his back that his wife, Heather, insisted he get taken off. It itched him and just didn’t look right. It turned out to be melanoma. It was a very scary time in their life, knowing the odds were all up in the air. When he had it removed they tested John to see if any of the melanoma possibly went to his lymph nodes. Well it did, and so he had to have all the lymph nodes removed out from under his right arm.
Fast forward 8 years…John has really cleaned up his eating, was working out and trying to live a healthier cleaner life all because of what he dealt with 8 years ago. Early this summer he was really getting into mountain biking, but he noticed that every time he did his tailbone would really give him a fit. Shrugging it off thinking it was just old age, he waited until the end of October to see someone about this.
His chiropractor did some manipulations and things felt somewhat better, but his tailbone was numb by this point and it was moving to other areas of his behind. In the middle of this he had his normal yearly physical with his Oncology surgeon and he suggested to get it checked out by someone at OSS in case it was something with the bone. When visiting Dr Jackson for another manipulation he decided John needed to get an MRI done just so they know what they are dealing with. That was a Thursday. Friday November 1 John had his MRI done and the results were sent to Dr Jackson that night.
Dr. Jackson reached out to John with findings that there was a mass at the end of his tailbone and John decided to reach out to one of his customers, and friends Dr Winer. In an email he explained to Dr Winer what was going on and immediately he made an appointment to see John and look at the MRI that following Tuesday. That day in the office they decided to do surgery on his back to correct a disc as well as remove this tumor from his tailbone.
That Saturday morning 11/9 John went through a 4 ½ hour surgery. Immediately Dr Winer knew that it was his melanoma that had returned. We were all in shock. It had been 8 years.
As of this past week John has been having more scans, etc to see how the rest of his body looks. Now they have found a tumor in his brain and he is having surgery to remove it this week. Following this surgery the plan is to radiate the 2 areas that had tumors followed by immunotherapy.
We are reaching out for help because John is self employed and there is no income at this time. The type of insurance John and Heather carry only kicks in when their extremely high deductible is met. John has started a cancer fighting foods lifestyle. His nutrition, positive faith thought life and most importantly relying on God and his word in this difficult time. If you are able to financially help and bless them that would be fantastic, but the most pressing thing would be to pray, just pray that God would make John a miracle!
