Help Ava Come Home to Her Family

A Dapple Dachshund full of life and love, Ava, suffered from a ruptured lumbar disc; as Dachshunds are more prone to the injury. After rushing her to an Emergency vet on Easter day, I was given very few options that would allow her to have the surgery she needed in order to walk again. So, Ava could be able to live a normal life and be able to bring her home. The surgery had a starting price that was already impossible for my family and me to afford; forcing me to choose between two heart wrenching options. Euthanasia or sign over my ownership to the Central Texas Dachshund Rescue Center. The rescue center would pay for her surgery then foster her through her recovery and have her put up for adoption. Both choices were exceedingly difficult because, neither would heal her and allow me to take her home to her family. Nevertheless I wanted what was best for her overall; I signed over my ownership. Ava has brought more happiness and more love to me and my family than I ever thought was possible. Despite signing over ownership I struggled not knowing how she would do with the surgery; thankfully she did very well and is now in recovery. After some phone calls to do whatever we could to get her home, my family was given an option to reimburse the center for the surgery and would be allowed to bring her home. I'm not the type of person who is comfortable asking for help or donations, but Ava is the light in our life. Anything helps and I will be forever grateful. My little girl has helped me through many hard times, keeping a smile on my face when I thought I couldn't. I want nothing more than to return the favor; please hug your animals each and every day and enjoy their love. Thank you from the very bottom of mine and my family's heart.
