Help Amanda get her surgery

Donation protected

Amanda has cancer and was scheduled to have her surgery on Wednesday April 23 2014. Message from Amanda this morning: So blown. Surgery is canceled. They decided I need to pay them the rest of my deductible (which hadn't even had other claims processed toward it yet but will), and all my coinsurance until my out of pocket is met. So basically they want around $5,000 before Wed and they chose to tell me today. I just literally cannot deal. I give up.

Amanda has done countless selfless acts for other people time and time again including fundraising for anyone who needed it and even organising a relief effort for the victims of the hurricane sandy and traveling to long island, ny to take donations to the people who needed it. NOw Amanda needs our help. Any donation will help. Lets get Amanda the surgery she so desperately needs and get her to feeling better. thank you.

Amanda's story told by her~

In 2012 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor during a routine eye appointment. The tumor was damaging my vision and we were relieved to find out that it was benign, thinking that this would mean that it wouldn't cause any major problems. We couldn't have been more wrong.
The tumor caused what is called hydrocephalus, which is basically water in the brain...too much cerebrospinal fluid, creating an enormous amount of pressure on my brain. Long story short, there was not enough room in my skull for my brain and for all of that fluid. On Mothers Day of 2012, I had a stroke. I was given 6 months to a year to live. In June, I went blind. We contacted several neurosurgeons throughout Maryland, DC, Pennsylvania and Virginia. They all said that they could not operate because the tumor was not in an operable place. I would bleed out. They were sorry, but I was going to die.
Finally in early July of 2012, a doctor agreed to operate on me. He was a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins. He told us that yes, he could NOT remove the tumor, but he could place a ventriculoperitoneal shunt in my brain that would drain the excess spinal fluid into my abdomen, relieving the pressure. He said it may work, it may not, but he would try. I had the brain surgery July 16, 2012. I lost all of my hair and I was in the hospital that summer during two separate inpatient stays, 4 different surgeries, and 21 days combined.
Immediately after the surgery, I started gaining my sight back. By September, the doctors told me that I was going to live. As long as the shunt worked, I would be okay. I still have painful hydrocephalus which I will always have because of the brain damage done, but my life was saved. We thought everything was going to be okay.
A little over a year later on Halloween of 2013, I was diagnosed with both cervical and ovarian cancer. It was as if I could not understand why I had lived through all of what I had, just have another blow like this. I tried to stay positive still as I had throughout the last ordeal. Luckily, they caught the cancer early, and a total hysterectomy removing the uterus, ovaries, and cervix would also remove the cancer. We were so relieved that the cancer was somewhere that could be removed. I was also relieved to have been given the chance to have my children so young, because now it was no longer possible.
After many months and my hydrocephalus and epilepsy (which I have had my whole life) worsening because of the stress the cancer was causing on my body, my hysterectomy was scheduled for 4/23/14 at 7:30am. This morning I woke up to hear that it won't take place unless I pay my deductible and my coinsurance up to my out of pocket amount before surgery. $5,000 to come up with in less than 48 hours. I am desperate.
