Help our class visit The Bat Zone!

I, and my co-teacher Denise Gawrys, teach in the 3rd grade class at Inspire Academy-A School of Inquiry in Muncie, IN.  We have been engaging in an in-depth study of bats for 4 months!  Our dream has been to visit the Bat Zone at the Cranbrook Institute of Science in Bloomfield Hills, MI.  They have well over 100+ bats there of 10 different species.  The students have done incredible, complex work through this expedition including research reports on the Indiana Bat, an educational music video to inform people about conservation issues surrounding bats, a fictional story about their assigned bat species, and will also be doing research on individual species to produce a full-color trading card of each bat species.  We have done many hands-on activities, had a bat scientist work with the students in the classroom, and completed community service projects including building 4 bat houses and fundraising to help injured bats.  The students have done amazing work!  We would like to take the students to The Bat Zone as it is THE place to go nationally to engage with bats further in a unique and hands-on setting.  However, we have a limited budget and 80-90% of our students are below the poverty rate.  That is where you come in; all donations help to make this happen!  We moved our goal up a bit as we hope to be able to reimburse volunteers drivers for gas money as well as pay for dinner for the students to alleviate the burden on our economically diverse families.
