10 year old Cooper Burton was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor 3 years ago. For the last 3 years this tumor has been a low grade slow growing tumor, until the last 6 months it’s activity has changed and become more active.
Coop underwent his forth brain surgery at the end of September so that another biopsy could be taken, he hasn’t bounced back as well
as his first surgery. The surgery has affected the motor skills on his right side of his body, that he has had to have physio to be to walk and use his right hand again.
2 weeks after surgery Cooper was allowed home, when he become very ill with constant headaches and vomiting, to be rushed back to hospital and back in for emergency surgery as the tumor had grown in a matter of weeks and resulted with fluid in the brain and giving Coop unbearable pain and nausea.
After several MRI’s  they have found another spot on the brain so the decision has been made to start radiation immediately, not just on the initial part of the tumor but now the whole of his brain.
The neuro team and cancer centre have tested this tumor against thousands of other tumors and it has not matched any one tumor, they can not even identify the tumor they are dealing with.

Yesterday Cooper has started his next journey of treatment with 6 weeks of daily radiation ahead of him.
Coopers family are hoping he can come home in the next week or two and head in daily for his treatment to Peter Mac in the city.

Everything has happened at a rapid rate. Tony and Sharni are still trying to digest every piece of news they receive daily  and now the extra cost they are about to incur with the the cost of parking, driving to city everyday and loss of income from not being able to work.
Next week the radiation will start to show effects and Coopers hair will be gone, the family will be up for a really tough week. Tony can’t afford not to go to work next week when his family need him by their side.
If we can raise some money to ease the added financial stress, Tony may be able to be where he needs to be by his wife and sons side to continue to provide the support Cooper needs!
