Thief robs me of my Australian trip

Hello my name is Daniel, I am 23 years old and I recently graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. I work at a hotel as well as with an event promotions company in downtown San Diego. Once I graduated I knew I wanted to see the world, so I booked a flight to Australia with plans for staying for a year. I was so excited for the future and my adventure!!I didn't know however, that 3 weeks before I am supposed to leave for Australia my future would involve someone breaking into my house and stealing a huge portion of the money I had set aside for my international adventure. I was truly heartbroken to come home from work to find that someone had came into my home and had stolen $3000 in cash and event tickets that I kept in a hidden lockbox, several electronics, jewelry, gift cards, and even my birth certificate. I don't want to stay in my house anymore, it no longer feels like a home to me.
At this point I am hoping to get the cash back so I can support myself for a few weeks while I look for work and a place to live out there. This tragedy has torn my Aussie plans apart and now I am scrambling to gather extra cash before I leave.
I have held a steady job for the most part since I was 16, my freshmen year of college I had four jobs working 60+ hours a week and was a full time student. I had to support myself for four years while in school, I know that money is something earned not taken. Several people advised me to look into this website and it really makes me so happy that people are willing to help someone in need, whether they know them or not.
I want everyone to know that if you are willing to help me then when I get out to Australia I will send you a personal postcard, whether I know you or not, because without you I'm not sure how long I would be able to stay out there. If you don't want me to that is okay, but I think it is the least I can do since you are helping me in such a dire time of need.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that you can find it in your heart to help me make it to the other side of the world.
Cheers
