I am an actor/artist living in the DC area. When I'm not acting onstage, I generally work from home. I'm almost always creating, whether someone has asked me to or not. It is my life. It keeps me busy. It keeps me happy. It requires a computer. I do everything on my computer (as I'm sure most of you do too), from script writing, freelance set and graphic designing, web-designing, video editing, and even TV watching. This has been my major tool and resource for the past 6 years since I've owned one. Unfortunately the other night I came home late after performing another show to find my apartment unlocked, my place rifled through, cupboards opened, clothes pulled from drawers, my bed lifted, and my computer stolen. It was pretty nerve-racking. They also took a couple other items, but those were not as valuable. However, they left my external hard-drive which had been backing up my files and I was informed if I had a new computer I could restore everything from my old one. 6 years of my life brought back. So get a new computer and get my life back, easy enough. Except, as I mentioned before, I am an ACTOR....(and we all know they don't make much money). I've only been in the area for 2 1/2 years and it has required the sacrifice of almost all I have to get my feet on the ground and establish somewhat of a career here. I am working, yes (heck, I've even won an award!), but having invested what I barely had left to find a decent place to live has left me with no financial wiggle room. Not to mention TAX SEASON just hit us all. So, needless to say, there is no way I can replace my computer any time soon. It is frustrating. It is a little debilitating. But it is not completely hopeless. Because I have friends. I try to never do this (I personally hate money and only want to acquire it to live comfortably and to keep doing more artistic things to share with the public), but at the moment I have no other option. And so I ask you for your help, however large or small. Anything helps, and you can be assured it will be going to a very purposeful cause. The amount is roughly what it would cost to get another desktop iMac, with 3 years of insurance. If, by some miraculous means, I raise more than this, the additional money will go towards any relevant tools and software for creating even greater videos, designs, puppets, and stories to share with you. Thank you for even looking at this, and for considering to help me.
