Heyo buccaneers!

My name is Jared Smith, and I am raising money to make my musical, The Wright Family Wahoosical, as incredible as it can be. With our dynamic set design, including a 14-foot, 500lbs fishing boat that will rotate onstage, we expect to go beyond our initial budget of $500 and would appreciate any help in covering the cost of our production!

What is this musical?

The Wright Family Wahoosical tells the story of Jimmy Wright and his broken family. Because his two daughters are drifting away from him, he takes them both as well as one of their wimpy boyfriends on a fishing trip to catch some big wahoo. Everyone learns a thing or two as they suffer from the heat and seasickness whether it be about fishing, navigating through life, or being vulnerable around others. Many a curse word is said, and many an argument had.

What's so special about this musical?

As far as I know, there aren't any redneck fishing musicals out there. One could say we're providing representation for that niche community, but I would say that I'm simply shocked that such a dynamic setting and character-type aren't that widely used in the musical format. Fishing, boating, and redneck-ing are all energetic activities, so putting them in a musical seems like a no brainer. There's so many possibilities!

Where is my money going?

Funds collected here will go towards our ambitious tech endeavors. We want to put a boat on a stage, have that boat move, build a wall of blue fabric as "water", puppeteer fish, go "fishing", have a live band perform the music, and light the whole thing beautifully. It's a lot of moving parts and not very achievable with a minimal budget.
