Phil Giving Back - Cambodia

Work, responsibilites, parenting, social status, bills, bills, bills ....

These are the things that consume much of our time and attention on a daily basis. And in difficult times can stop us from appreciating what we really do have in life.

Many of my friends and family recently have been amazing to have given of their time and advice to helping me out this year and that made me wonder what I could do to "pay it forward".

I've been making an effort to think outside of my own concerns, worries and responsibilities to learn more about what others are going through.

I started off submitting an application to the local State Emergency Services team and have been volunteering at the dining hall in one of Melbourne's established homeless shelters.

So far so good :)

But, now I've organised to take 4 weeks leave (3 weeks unpaid) from work to go to Cambodia and join the "MyGapYear" team with the Outreach Program.

At this time I have basically no idea what is going to be involved.
Probably diverse community assistance projects such as; teaching English, working with kids, construction projects, etc.

I'll be donating of my time, energy and goodwill to this good cause. I'm also funding my trip and all incurred costs.
But, I'd be grateful for any donations that you can make to help me make these payments to this very worthwhile project.

This is not a holiday!
Although I do hope to be able to see some of the local community where I will be based, I won't be travelling the countryside and getting a tan by the hotel pool :)

It will be an amazing experience but, also hard work and a big learning curve.
