GU Impacts Fundraiser for Gigi

My name is Gigi Grimes and I am currently a sophomore in the McDonough School of Business (MSB) at Georgetown University studying Finance and Operational Information Management.
I believe in impact investing and using the tools that I've learned at Georgetown to help make the business world a better place for people of all backgrounds across the globe. I'm especially interested in helping women find agency and empowerment through business opportunities and education that allows them to achieve all that they aspire to.
I am extremely greatful to have been selected as a GU Impacts Fellow with Georgetown University's Beeck Center for Social Impact an Innovation. Through my fellowship, I will have the opportunity to travel to Mhaswad, India with two other Georgetown students this summer to work for the Mann Deshi Foundation, the first bank in India created by and for women. My work in Mann Deshi will help women and girls across the area start and continue the success of their small businesses. Mann Deshi not only supports women in their professional endeavors, but also is changing the landscape for women in India. Since its founding in 1997, the organization has helped 325,000 women and girls find agency and empowerment through their work and I hope to continue and improve upon this objective.
Though I am extremely excited for this opportunity, I cannot continue my work with the Beeck Center without funding. When I was accepted to the program, the McDonough School of Business and the Beeck center were working closely to provide MSB students with full funding for the program. Unfortunately, I recently received the news that the MSB will not be funding any GU Impacts Fellows this summer, leaving us to find funding elsewhere-- this is where you all come in!
I'm currently working closely with the Beeck Center and other grant opportunities at Georgetown to secure funding for my internship. Even with the current opportunities, I will still fall short of funding for my itnership, which has an estimated cost of $5,000. I need to raise this amount before April 15th or I will be unable to participate in the GU Impacts Fellowship this summer.
My selection for this opportunity is my greatest accomplishment at Georgetown and I hope to use this to create opportunities for aspiring women across the globe. I want to help create a world where women of any status have the opportunities to achieve the success the desire.
All donations I receive will go towards obtaining my Visa for India, vaccines, flight costs, transportation to and from work, and other program costs.
