This is Bowie, he is a 2 year old Siberian Husky, and unfortunately he was run over in our driveway. He is the most wonderful, playful, naughty little baby, and we adore him.
I was not home at the time of the incident, so I got a frantic call from Glynn, explaining what had happened, and that they could perform an operation with a ± 20% chance of walking again - and we needed to make the decision fast.
However, this would cost us roughly $220. We didn’t hesitate, he is our family, naively we thought this included his rehab and recovery. It did not.
However, he has been at the vet for over a month now, and the boarding fees, physiotherapy fees, and extra fees from them removing the device stabilizing his spine, and in addition to his wheel chair, mean the cost is now closer to $4000 - $4500 at least.
Bowie needs a wheelchair in order to support the return of sensation in his hind left leg, which even the vet was amazed by, so there is loads of hope for him, even on just 3 legs.
My husband and I have 2 year old twins, and all these unexpected costs, we both work full time, but with daycare fees, mortgage, and utilities, this is going to sink us.
Please help us save Bowie. (P.S pet insurance wasn’t an option for him, he was surrendered by a breeder to be euthanized because of his Anisocoria, 70 ounce cyst on his kidney and overbite. He has already made it through so much.
He really isn’t the smartest dog, but we love him so much.
