Torero Rugby Supporters,
As the 2014 Pacific Gold Coast Rugby Conference season comes to a close, the USD Toreros would like to thank you all for your support throughout the season. The Toreros finished the regular season 2 weeks ago with a flawless 7-0 undefeated record for the first time in team history, earning the honor of hosting the regional playoff qualifier. This Saturday, the Toreros played Santa Barbara City College to the tuning of a 95-15 victory and would play for the league championship on Sunday. Unfortunately, the outcome on Sunday was not as favoring as the Toreros fell to Long Beach State.
However, with such a strong regular season showing the Toreros were selected as one of two at large teams in the National Championship Tournament. Sixteen teams now will compete to be Collegiate Rugby Division I-AA National Champions. The Toreros journey will begin Saturday, April 26th, 2014 at Penn State University against the prestigious Brown University Brown Bears. Winner of that match will face the winner of Princeton verse West Virginia the following day. You can follow the Toreros on Twitter @USD Rugby for live match scores during the tournament.
Now is the time we are calling for all Torero supporters help. As you may gather, this kind of achievement comes with a financial committment. We welcome any kind of support to help fund our travel requirements as we partake in the Division I AA National Playoffs for the first time in USD's history. Thank you for your time and commitment to the program. Go Toreros!!!
