Helping a Family in Need

On April 12, 2014, Carl and Betty Cowan of Stuyvesant Falls, NY, experienced devastation when the home they've lived in for over 40 years was destroyed by a fire. Carl, a military veteran whom is retired and Betty who still works part time at Barnwell, have for years opened their doors and hearts and provided a loving home for their children and grandchildren. At the time of the fire, they had their 31 year old daughter Shauna residing with them, along with her boyfriend Chris Taylor and their 3 young children, CJ (10), Carrity (8), and Jacob (2). Due to the braveness and quick thinking of 8 year old Carrity, the family was able to safely get out of the home, however, their beloved pets (3 dogs and 3 cats) had all parished in the fire. Not only did they lose their home that night, but they lost everything they have ever known (their toys, clothes, beds, school supplies, furniture ,etc). Sadly at the time of loss, there was NO insurance on the home. Several years back the insurance company that insured their property had cancelled their insurance stating they had "vicious dogs." Ask anyone who knew those dogs,they would tell you they were NOT vicious. With a mortgage still remaining on the home, the Cowan's not only need to pay on a home they no longer have, but they have to tear down their destroyed home and hopefully one day rebuild. This money that would be donated would go directly to the Cowan's, to start them on the right path and hopefully have a place to once again call home. Please help this family out.
