Help fix Zaida's hard drive!

Hi everyone! I'm Zaida. :)

First of all I want to thank you for visiting my page and taking some time to read about my situation. In 2012 I let someone borrow my external hard drive so he could put his data onto it as he prepared to send his laptop in to get serviced. When I received my hard drive back it was no longer working.

I took it into the 300 Data Recovery shop in Studio City, California hoping that they could retreive my data from my drive. Unfortunately they were not able to retreive anything from it. They believe the problem with my drive is called "bad heads."

"Head Failures: A head failure occurs when the read/write head crashes into the platters (the head crash), has an "improper flying height" or the wiring between the logic board and the head is faulty"”among other failures related to malfunction of the read/write head. This is a common failure. The head crash is particularly nasty."

So because of this, they suggested that I take my drive to Platinum Data Recovery in West LA, which is a specific clean-house recovery shop that specilizes in cases like mine. The estimation I received, taking into consideration the model, type of damage, and how much time has passed since being damaged came out to $1,500-$2,000.

I have been unemployed since early October of 2014 so I have no source of an income to put towards this repair. The reason why I am trying to get this fixed is because I had all my photos on that hard drive prior to June of 2011. All my photos from elementary school through college were on the drive. Also, before 2011 my family had most of our family photos (including baby photos of my sister and I) transferred into digital form because many of them were damaged by wear and tear over time. These are the only physical baby photos I have left:

More than anything, I want to get those photos back, that's what's most important to me. I don't have much to offer other than my gratitude to anyone who can help. I would appreciate any sort of donation you could make to help me fix my hard drive. And if you're not able to donate at this time, then I'd appreciate you spreading the word and passing this along to others so I can reach my goal!
