AMELIA AND HER CHILDREN NEED HELP.

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Barb Lachmar and I am raising funds for Amelia Molina and her 2 younger children. Amelia traveled to the United States from Chile with her family, during the pandemic, due to the economic collapse it caused and the political instability in Chile.

Chile temporarily closed its borders at the time of the pandemic and she could not return home during this period. She remained in the United States, while conditions in Chile worsened with the inauguration of a communist-based government.

The family has consulted lawyers and so far has not found a legal path to stay in the United States. Amelia is a member of Baha'i Faith and serves on the Layton Local Spiritual Assembly. The father is currently working in the United States and will stay here as long as he can, while he continues to investigate a legal way to remain. However, all his income goes to the medical bills for Amelia's health and household expenses. He hasn't been able to save money.

Amelia feels that she has no choice but to return to Chile since she does not have the legal right to stay in the United States and therefore cannot find work. In addition, the stress and moral dilemma of staying in the United States, without legal permission, is damaging her health. She will return to Chile at the end of August with her 14-year-old son and her 12-year-old daughter. This was a very difficult choice to make because the conditions in Chile are challenging at best. Due to her age of 54 (which is considered older in Chile), it is unlikely that she will be hired when she returns home. She was a firefighter in Chile and also participated in the Chilean Red Cross as a volunteer before coming to the United States. She also ran a medical clinic aimed at people with fewer resources (she has three years of training in the medical school), but lost her clinic due to the constant increases in rent.

There are no social support service programs in Chile, for which she and her children will qualify. In addition, she has no family members who can provide her with housing. The money you donate to this GoFundMe account will be given to Amelia so that she can find housing and buy food when she returns to Chile. She has no savings and will be homeless when she returns to Chile unless she receives some financial help.

The cost of living in Chile is about $2000 per month for all expenses. I would like to raise enough so that she has an income equivalent to six months so that she has some time to find a way to support herself and her children. Thank you very much for any help you can give!! I would appreciate it if you could share it with your friends and family!
