I have been awarded a wonderful opportunity; I have been accepted to be a part of a mission trip to Maria's Big House of Hope, a medical care center for special needs orphans in Luoyang, China. The organization was founded by Christian singer, Steven Curtis Chapman, after he adopted his daughters from the area.
In China, I will have the opportunity to love on children who are sick and considered outcasts to the community. We will be playing with kids, teaching kindergarten classes and sharing the love of Christ with the nannies and children, as well as others in the community. This trip is particularly exciting because it is not very often that male students are accepted for these trips. I was hand-selected from hundreds of applicants across the country. There will only be up to twenty students to go on this trip, and I am very blessed to be one of them.
In order to make this dream a reality, I will have to raise close to $4500. This money will include my round-trip international airfare, my round-trip in-country airfare between Beijing and Luoyang, the hotels we will stay at the first and last nights, all food during my stay and the cultural visits we will be taking.
