Helping the Swan Girls

Late on the evening of Friday, November 13, my stepdad, Lee; my mom, Felicia;  and my two younger sisters, Trinity and Hope were in a fatal car accident. My mom and my stepdad passed away on impact and by the grace of God, my sisters were pulled out by bystanders before the car exploded. The bystanders were not able to get to my parents before then. It's difficult to even type this because I still cannot believe it. My sisters sustained multiple serious injuries and were flown to Baylor Scott and White Hospital where they have been undergoing a series of surgeries and will need extensive rehab once that day comes.

I guess I should tell you a little bit about my parents. My mom and my stepdad, who, in our eyes, was our dad, got married in November of 2016. My dad was goofy, family-oriented, and was the biggest longhorns fan that I personally knew of. He could fill a room with laughter with his off-the-wall jokes and his loud laugh. I'm happy that my sisters and I connected with him the way that we did in the short span of 4 years. He always said if anything were to happen to my mom, he would always be our dad and care for us, but both of them are gone and neither of them can fulfill that promise. He was an amazing man and I'm so grateful for him being in our lives.

As for my mom, words cannot describe how amazing she was. She just had an aura of calmness, love, and light around her. She loved coffee and Fall was her favorite season. She loved seeing memories from other people's perspectives. It brought a different kind of joy to her. She was superwoman to me and my sisters. Just so gentle, kind, and resilient. Our mom would go above and beyond for us. She had a brilliant mind and was working on her Ph.D. in Psychology. That's actually what they were celebrating on the day of the accident; her closing on the property for her private practice and her birthday which is on November 11th. She was so happy and excited to finally be able to have her own practice and do what she'd worked so hard to do. This just feels like the worst possible nightmare that I'm desperately trying to wake up from it.

Of course with all of the emotional pain, stress, and trauma that death brings, it also brings financial burdens. With losing both of my parents so suddenly and having my sisters in intensive care, "What do I do?" is all that I can think about. So, I'm trying to raise money to cover the expenses of the multiple surgeries, physical therapy, and outpatient rehab that my sisters will have to endure once they are released from the hospital. Also, with any costs that will incur and to help wherever needed, such as my Mommy's funeral.

It is true that in times of loss and sadness that we see people come together to help one another make it through the hardships that life throws at them— to support the people we care for. I'm thankful for any support that we're provided. I also would appreciate it if you keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much.
