Help Paige & Mum w Housing/Medical

Donation protected
Paige is disabled and unable to work due to her progressively failing health. Her diagnoses  include Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Fibromyalgia, Celiac disease, and slipped discs.  These conditions cause serious, disabling pain and fatigue.  Paige uses a wheelchair and cane frequently to help her get around, but still has mobility issues.   She has a Master's in English, but cannot work due to her symptoms, except for a few odd jobs totalling under 10 hours a week.

Paige's mother Dawn, who was largely supporting both herself and Paige, recently suffered an accident.  A seemingly innocuous spider bite spiraled into a blood clot and emergency surgery.  Despite a 12-day hospital stay, extensive anticoagulant treatments, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, she lost the four fingers on her left hand and had a skin graft on her thumb.  The ordeal was incredibly painful, and has left her with phantom pain and decreased function.   You can view pictures here of the progression of Dawn's treatment and what her hand looks like now.  Do be warned, they are graphic.   She will likely be unable to work as a nurse again, and will need some time to heal.  She also requires physical therapy, which they cannot afford.

Their main concern is basic living expenses.  They are relying solely on donations and what little Paige makes with her small Etsy shop (www.etsy.com/shop/thesibilantshoppe), and a few odd jobs jobs to pay for their bills: groceries, rent, and the ever-critical  health insurance premiums.  Dawn's car was repossessed, and they are continually at least one month behind on bills

Both Dawn and Paige are working through the long and laborious process of applying for disability, which can take up to a year or more.  In the meantime, they are constantly worrying about food, the gas bills, and other necessities.  They are currently going without some medications and treatments to meet other bills.  They rely on food and clothing donations, but much of the food that they receive, Paige cannot eat due to having Celiac disease.  Paige has lumps in her breasts that need an ultrasound, and both need physical therapy and other medical treatment.

Paige and Dawn also have two elderly cats they raised from kittens, and a two-year-old who is Paige's support animal.  They are a constant source of support and joy in their lives and also need help with food and care.

Visit Paige's Etsy store, The Sibilant Shoppe, at www.etsy.com/shop/thesibilantshoppe . She sells disability and chronic illness awarenessjewellery.
