Located remotely in the hills of Jamaica, in walking distance to the Great River home of the rafters, tubing, and zipline. ABOFA House is about 25 minutes from Montego Bay, Sangsters Airport and other main attractions like the hip strip and Doctors Cave beach.
The Library of Hope Cultural Arts Resource Center is an educational space founded and curated by Dr. Kim D. Harris. It is designed to birth a cultural excursion that explores various phases of the arts and technology as a conduit for providing programming and various lecture series in margainalized communities. The mission is to enlighten ones about current issues concerning human rights, cultural sustainability, social justice, agriculture, and community development via artsy grass root experiences.
B.A.B.S. is an initiative that addresses and advocates for freedom from gender based violence via the arts and technology. This intervention program is delivered in four phases as a sort of rites of passage for young girls ages 12 and up. Sacred Space, Sacred Soul Beads, Sacred Spirit Dolls, and Sacred Stories are the four phases that raises the awareness of young girls about breaking the silence to end gender based violence.
The Creative You Summer Youth Workshop is a 2 week adventure with all phases of the arts and technology for youth ages ranging from 8-12 years old. Spreading the message about recycling, campers will create pieces that also reflect and identify ancestral links between African and Jamaican history, culture, and values.
The Creative You Teaching Artist Residency is a hands on experience for practicing, professional, and emerging artists, as well as for educators and counselors who are passionate about sharing creativity with under served youth in Jamaica. For 2 weeks you will be engaged with Lectures, Demonstrations, and an opportunity to volunteer as teaching artists for The Creative You Summer Youth Camp. 70 hour Certification available for those who qualify.
The Healing Room Series is a 7 day retreat experience that embodies self-care and mindfullness practices, plant-based meals, Kemetic yoga, art therapy, river-rafting, daily readings from MAAT DAAT Self-Care Cards, fire cleansing, star gazing, herbal remedies, and private consultations.
ABOFA House does not recieve any govermental finanacial support and is incurring all expenses.
