Help Sweet Sawyer Get the Help He needs

Sweet Sawyer has been in and out of the hospital since the day he was born (just over 1 year ago).  He has 3 surgeries under his tiny belt, an emergency helicopter ride, 3 weeks in the ICU and more hospital days than we can count.

After just over a year of wondering what is happening with our sweet little trooper we've finally received a diagnosis. And as Sawyer's Daddy (Dave) put it, "It's harder knowing than it was not knowing." 

Sawyer was diagnosed with Huppke -Brendel Syndrome which is an extremely rare genetic disease with a very scary prognosis. In the 6 (only 6!) other cases that have been documented, the children were unable to sit, walk, talk and all died between ages 22 months and 6 years of age.  

While this is (of course) the most devastating news for our family, we hold onto hope that since we live in a different time and place and are surrounded by different circumstances, there is still hope for our Sweet Sawyer. 

There is no treatment protocol for this disease as it is so rare. Because of this, the doctors will treat the symptoms as they show up. He will need to be monitored very closely by a team of doctors at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver. 

On top of the mental-emotional burden of all of this, money has become a huge source of stress for the family. 

The trips to Children's Hospital are long and take Sawyer's mom, dad and 2 brothers away from home regularly for extended periods of time. While dad is working as much as he can, he's pulled away often to be with Sawyer in Vancouver and to take care of the other boys. Not being able to work, paired with medical and travel expenses, has become a burden to them at a time when life is already hard enough. 

I'd love to help take the financial load off so that mom and dad can worry about being there and giving Sawyer and the other boys the best life they can. 

Please help Sweet Sawyer heal and allow his family to be together and enjoy these moments as much as possible by donating to this cause.
