Special Needs Children- Nutcracker

We invite you to participate in a special new community program by Alma Dance Theater, a not-for-profit company that brings a fresh outlook of the grand classical ballets of Europe and the world to the stages of communities in Illinois: The Nutcracker.

Unique to this production is our inclusion of children with special needs in the actual performance. Thirteen children will be given the opportunity to dance in a piece during the 2nd Act that will be specifically choreographed just for them. Our dream is that this experience will become an annual one; one that brings the soul, joy, and magic of classical ballet to extraordinary children.

We aim to provide this performance opportunity without placing a financial burden upon families. Specifically, we are seeking in-kind and/or financial contributions to help us cover the cost of tights, ballet slippers, costumes, flowers, diplomas, and instruction. Alma Dance Theater will provide each child’s family with two complimentary tickets to ensure that parents are able to watch their children perform on Sunday, December 16th. Finally, the children will be presented their costumes as gifts to serve as a beautiful reminder of their performances in this magical production.

We have anticipated the cost of this program to be $3,000. We can not fund this program alone and we are reaching out to our community to help give these children a wonderful opportunity of a lifetime. Please assist us in helping these children shine onstage in our magical Nutcracker.
