Hi, I'm Marla Miranda.
Obstetrician I was diagnosed with large-cell type B Non-Hodking Lymphoma, in 2015 when I was doing my studies to obtain the specialty of Gynecology and Obstetrics. I received chemotherapy treatment 8 cycles, then radiotherapy 15 sessions. I was in remission for 1 year 6 months, but the Lymphoma returned in February 2018 mutated and no longer in the mediastinum where it was at the beginning but in the lymph nodes. I received chemotherapy of different types for 1 year (February 2019), I spent most of the year hospitalized, with havoc, weight loss, always hoping to respond to the medications they put me in and so doctors can perform a transplant marrow to cure me completely, but unfortunately without any response, with disease progression in other organs. After receiving all the treatments the doctors gave me that there is no treatment for me in my country Ecuador, so I went to an experimental study in the United States where I received several treatments the first one reduced my cancer in certain parts of my body but it got worse in others so they changed my treatment which reduced my cancer by 70%, but this treatment was too strong for me. I got infected with 3 bacteria from the environment because of my defenses that went down too much. I had to urgently enter the health center where they are doing the treatment and they practically revived me, one of the bacteria that fell on me attacked my lungs but the doctors managed to stabilize me until I slowly recovered. As I was a month without chemotherapy treatment for infections, the aggressive cancer that I have started to move forward again, so they gave me a stronger treatment that reduced the cancer considerably in order to finally be a candidate for a bone marrow transplant.
The bone marrow donor was my younger sister with whom I had 50% compatibility but before I had the transplant I had a complication of my kidneys since the cancer was attacking them causing me a lot of pain. The doctors gave me more chemotherapy and managed to eliminate the cancer from my kidneys and so they could perform the bone marrow transplant. The transplant was done to me. On November 8, 2019.
Now I have complications with the transplant since there were always risks. Such as organ rejection. Graft versus host disease. That cancer would be likely to return. May I have another type of cancer and also death.
I am already more than a month after the transplant in which I had been told that for the month I could return to the hotel where I was staying but that the hospital would not cover my expenses.
I am in a country that is not my home. I can't work because any bacteria in the environment could fall and complicate me due to low defenses. Currently I have not been able to leave the hospital because my situation has been complicated. I have kidney problems and also pleural effusion which doctors are giving me the necessary medicine to get out of this situation.
Thank you for wanting to help me to cover the expenses of having this disease and being in another country without being able to work.
I still hope to recover and with your help I will be able to move forward with my fight against this cancer.

Hola soy Marla Miranda. Médico Obstetra. Me diagnosticaron de Linfoma de No Hodking tipo B de células grandes, en el 2015 cuando estaba realizando mis estudios para obtener la especialidad de Ginecología y Obstetricia. Recibí tratamiento con quimioterapia 8 ciclos , luego radioterapia 15 sesiones. Estuve en remisión por 1 año 6 meses , pero el Linfoma regresó en Febrero de 2018 mutado y ya no en el mediastino donde fue al principio sino en los ganglios linfáticos. Recibí quimioterapia de diferente tipo por 1 año(Febrero 2019), pasé la mayor parte del año internada , con estragos , pérdida de peso, siempre con la esperanza de hacer respuesta a los medicamentos que me ponían y así los doctores me puedan realizar transplante de médula para curarme del todo, pero lamentablemente sin respuesta alguna, con progresión de la enfermedad en otros órganos. Después de recibir todos los tratamientos los doctores me dieron que ya no hay tratamiento para mi en mí país Ecuador, por lo que entré a un estudio experimental en Estados Unidos donde recibí varios tratamientos el primero me redujo el cáncer en ciertas partes de mi cuerpo pero empeoró en otras así que me cambiaron de tratamiento el cual me redujo el cáncer un 70%, pero este tratamiento fue demasiado fuerte para mi. Me infecté de 3 bacterias del ambiente por mis defensas que bajaron demasiado. Tuve que ingresar de urgencia al centro de salud donde me están haciendo el tratamiento y prácticamente me reanimaron, una de las bacterias que me cayó atacó mis pulmones pero los doctores me lograron estabilizar hasta que poco a poco me recuperé. Como estuve un mes si tratamiento de quimioterapia por las infecciones el cáncer empezó a avanzar nuevamente por lo que me pusieron un tratamiento más fuerte que redujo el cáncer considerablemente para por fin poder ser candidata para que me realicen el transplante de médula.
La donante de médula fue mi hermana menor con la cual tenía 50% de compatibilidad pero antes de hacerme el transplante tuve complicación por mis riñones ya que el cáncer estaba atacándolos produciéndome mucho dolor. Los doctores me pusieron más quimioterapia y lograron eliminar el cáncer de mi mis riñones y así pudieron realizarme el transplante de médula.
Ahora tengo complicaciones con el transplante ya que siempre existieron riesgos. Tales como rechazo del órgano. Enfermedad injerto contra huésped. Que habría probabilidades que el cáncer regrese. Que me pueda dar otro tipo de cáncer y también la muerte.
Ya estoy a mas de un mes del transplante en la cual me habían dicho que podría regresar al hotel donde me estaba hospedando pero el hospital no cubre mis gastos y estoy en un país que no es mi hogar. No puedo trabajar porque cualquier bacteria del ambiente me podría caer y complicarme por las bajas defensas. Actualmente no he podido dejar el hospital porque se me ha complicado mi situación. Tengo problemas con los riñones y también derrame pleural el cual los doctores están dándome medicina necesaria para poder salir de esta situación.
