89 Year Old Taken For Everything

This Gofundme page is to help our 89 year old mother Marcie Blume, a resident of Kansas City. My sister Patty and I Donna were beside ourselves when we found out that our mother was scammed of all her money and life insurance by people claiming she had won a Mega Millions lottery of $888,000. She had previously filled out forms for Mega Millions, so she believed she had won. These lowlife criminals convinced her to open a new bank account with $30 in it so they could deposit her winnings. She opened the account and a few days later the balanced showed $888,030! However she was told the funds could not be released until the taxes and attorney fees were paid. Since the account showed the money was in it she believed them, so she took all the money she had and cashed in her life insurance policy to pay the taxes and attorney. After paying these fees she went to transfer the $888,000 from the new account to her personal account, but the money was all gone, along with all of her money. If we had known anything about this we would have stopped her before she gave them all her money but she had kept it all a secret because she wanted to surprise my sister and I and her 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Since this was an obvious scam, a police report has been filed but the odds of anyone being arrested are slim to none. According to the police the phone calls were bounced all over the US, Jamaica and other countries.

Our mother has had several medical issues over the last 20 years, she is in constant pain from arthritis throughout her entire body, at the age of 80 she had to have a mastectomy due to breast cancer. There are numerous doctor visits to fill a pain pump that is inserted in her stomach as well as appointments to adjust a pain stimulator that is inserted in her back. She relies solely on her Social Security for income which does not cover all of her medical needs and she is now struggling to pay rent, utilities, groceries and everyday expenses.

This is a very proud woman and she is ashamed and embarrassed that she allowed this to happen, her mistake is that she is a very trusting person and believed these people. Unfortunately this situation has caused a heavy burden on all of us, we as a family are trying to help her much as we can and gofundme was a last resort.
