Greetings family & friends,
We are reaching out to you with regards to our best friend, Morgan, and the Doherty family. As some of you may know, Morgan was diagnosed with advanced Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in March, 2016. Over the last 2 years, she has undergone a series of aggressive chemotherapy treatments and medical procedures. Throughout this entire process, Morgan has maintained a sense of optimism and determination that is truly admirable. Even on her most difficult days, Morgan has remained an unflappable friend, daughter, sister, and (most importantly) mother to her 6-year-old daughter, Cecelia.
Recently, Morgan was informed that the cancer relapsed, and, with the advice of her team at Dana Farber, decided that she would move forward with a second stem cell transplant, this time from a donor. Morgan is now beginning her third round of chemotherapy and will start the process of searching and testing for a stem cell match from family, friends, and the national stem cell donor bank. Once Morgan completes this round of chemotherapy she will enter a lengthy hospital stay for the stem cell transplant and subsequent recovery.
As her “team,” it is our ultimate goal to support Morgan and her family in any way, shape, or form to see that Morgan gets healthy and strong both physically and emotionally. Up until recently, Morgan’s family has been able to use paid time off in order to be home with Morgan and Cecelia when necessary, but because ongoing medical needs will require one or both of her parents to be home more often, we are asking for monetary donations in order to offset any financial burdens the family may incur. We envision that the money raised here will be utilized to: (1) alleviate copayments for medical visits and prescriptions (2) assist in maintaining an infection-free living space (3) support daily living expenses to facilitate a sense of normalcy (4) spoil Cecelia :) etc. Please know that even the smallest amount is useful.
