Anna's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
This GoFundMe is for my dear friend, Anna Ramirez. For those of you who don't know Anna, she is a 2014 Fruitland High School graduate who has been attending college at CWI. She is Twenty years old and full of life, positivity, and personality. Those who know Anna deeply cherish her ability to put a smile on your face and make you laugh for hours.
For a little over a year now Anna has experienced a pain in her right shoulder. Her initial thought was she had hurt it while lifting, she tried everything in her power to get her shoulder better. Physical therapy, labs, MRI's, you name it. Her doctor had diagnosed her with "frozen shoulder syndrome" and told her all she could was keep it at with the physical therapy. Mid December she went into the doctors to do some labs as she had not been feeling well. Later that evening the hospital had called back to let her know her red blood cell count was critically low. She was admitted into the hospital right away and stayed for two nights before being transferred to St. Lukes in Boise. From the start Anna had been a giant mystery. While being hospitalized she did numerous labs, blood and platelet transfusions, CT Scans, MRI's, and ultrasounds yet the doctors could not figure out what was wrong. Due to low platelet levels she was at a high risk for internal bleeding, and the doctors worried about performing a biopsy on her liver, where they had found lesions from one of her X-rays. They did one last transfusion to get her at a safe level to perform the biopsies the doctor had requested. The liver biopsy came back right away, and it was discovered that she had cancer. We didn't have all of the details, but we did know that the cancer was in her liver, lungs, kidneys, and shoulder (to solve the long awaited shoulder mystery). Though we knew she had cancer, we didn't have a "name" for it and waited almost two weeks before an actual diagnosis was given. Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare type of sarcoma, and there have only been 300 reported cases. Due to the cancers rarity there were a lot of questions that the doctors didn't have answers to. Now a little over a month of her being hospitalized she's began radiation and her first round of chemotherapy. It's hard to believe that a little over a month ago, she was living her normal life, going to work and school, and is now fighting for her life. This story has many many details, and lots of frustration over several misdiagnosis, but that hasn't once stopped Anna from being a warrior. She has an incredibly long road ahead of her, but she is determined she will beat this.

I have been asked to represent the family in this matter and have chosen to start a GoFundMe to help Anna and her family to seek medical attention in Seattle.  As you can imagine, hospital stays are very costly. Her parents have been focusing on being with Anna for constant support, they have not been working and will most likely not be able to work much during this time of family crisis.  Any money donated will go directly to an account for the family to cover medical and travel expenses, as well as allowing some of the family to be with her in Seattle during her stay for support.

This cause means so much to me and any amount you can give will be so greatly appreciated  by me as well as by Anna and her Family. From the bottom of our hearts we appreciate the support that has continuously been given. Keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming!

If you have any questions feel free to contact me, Hayley Schlager to avoid contacting the family directly with questions. Because the cancer is so rare, the doctors themselves still don't have all the answers to give which makes can be frustrating for the family. Having to answers questions that they don't know the answers to becomes difficult.

Please share this story to further extend the amount of support we can get for Anna.
