My name is Jay Chan. I am an and a community organizer residing in Stockton, California. I am also an advocate for the Cambodian communities across the United States and Cambodia. This GoFundMe fundraiser that I have facilitated with a few other community advocates is for the purpose of helping Cambodian families here and abroad who are impacted by the natural disaster. In this particular case, families who are homeless and without basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter.
Funds will be withdrawn to Chanthouen Pen bank account and will be electronically transferred to the community organizer. in Cambodia.
The funds will be utilized in the flowing manner:
1). Support flood victims (families, men, women, and children) get temporary shelter.
2). Provide families in the disaster zone support with transportation out of the disaster zones (most impacted by the storm) 3). Provide food, water, and basic supplies for families
The released funds will electronically transferred to supporters who are currently on the ground to help the families.
Life has taken a drastic and unexpected turn. Our world has been altered and things will probably never be the same again. Our daily routines have been abruptly interrupted. We see suffering and challenges in our local, national, and global communities.
It’s difficult to wrap our heads around what is happening and the speed at which it is happening is unimaginable. Everywhere around the world, we went from living our normal lives to the current state or unknown. The economic fallout created hardship for many families and individuals. In addition to all of this, natural disaster continues to add disparities to our world.
The current flooding in Southeast Asia is devastating. If you are of Southeast Asians, we all know that daily lives for those who are less fortunate are difficult enough. The flood has destroyed many homes and families. Our heart is heavy and we want to do something that can lessen the burden of those who are left with nothing.
Today, we are here to ask for your support in contributing as little or as much as you can to help families who are severely impacted by the flood. Together, we can make a difference.
Every penny will go to help the families in need. Your contribution will be spent to provide the basic needs for families such as rice, noodles, water, etc. Should you have any questions, please feel to contact one of us for more information.
