Mi nombre es Avelino Rodríguez, y escribo esto con el corazón destrozado. Durante casi 30 años, mi esposa, Elisa y yo construimos una vida en nuestro hogar familiar. Era más que solo cuatro paredes; era donde criamos a nuestros hijos, celebramos momentos importantes y encontramos consuelo en el calor de nuestra familia. En esta foto, verán a nuestra familia, incluyendo a Rey, nuestro precioso hijo adoptivo de 7 años, quien es la luz de nuestras vidas. 
 
La noche del 24 de enero de 2025, nuestro mundo se desmoronó de una manera que nunca imaginamos. Mi esposa estaba en la sala familiar cuando sintió un olor extraño. Cuando llegó a nuestra habitación, llamas habían tomado el control absoluto de el cuarto. Gritó para despertar a nuestro hijo, y trataron desesperadamente de detener el fuego, pero era demasiado fuerte. En cuestión de minutos, nos vimos obligados a huir por nuestras vidas. 
 
Mientras estábamos afuera en el frío, descalzos, viendo nuestra casa arder en llamas hasta los cimientos, todo lo que podíamos hacer era abrazarnos y rezar. Perdimos todo esa noche. El techo sobre nuestras cabezas, nuestras pertenencias y los recuerdos que hicieron de nuestra casa un hogar. Fotos familiares, recuerdos preciados, ropa, medicamentos y los juguetes de Rey, todo desapareció en un instante. 
 
Este incendio no solo destruyó nuestra casa; también nos arrebató la seguridad y estabilidad que con tanto esfuerzo creamos para nuestra familia. Estamos profundamente agradecidos de que logramos salir con vida, pero ahora nos encontramos sin nada, empezando de cero con corazones pesados y sin un lugar al que llamar hogar. 
 
Humildemente pedimos su ayuda en este momento tan devastador. Su generosidad podria ayudarnos a reconstruir nuestras vidas y proporcionar las necesidades más urgentes que tanto necesitamos: ropa, comida, medicamentos esenciales, refugio temporal y, con el tiempo, un nuevo lugar al que llamar hogar.

My name is Avelino Rodriguez, and I’m writing this with a broken heart. For nearly 30 years, my wife, Elisa and I built a life in our family home. It was more than just four walls it was where we raised our children, celebrated milestones, and found comfort in the warmth of each other. In this photo, you’ll see our family, including Rey, our precious 7-year-old adopted son, who is the light of our lives. 
 
On the night of January 24, 2025, our world shattered in a way we never imagined. My wife was in the family room when she smelled something strange. By the time she reached our bedroom, flames had already taken over. She screamed for our son, and they tried desperately to stop the fire, but it was too strong. Within minutes, we were forced to flee for our lives. 
 
As we stood outside in the cold, barefoot, watching our home burn to the ground, all we could do was hold onto each other and pray. We lost everything last night. The roof over our heads, our belongings, and the memories that made our house a home. Family photos, cherished keepsakes, clothes, and toys for Rey all gone in an instant. 
 
This fire didn’t just destroy our home; it took away the sense of safety and stability we worked so hard to create for our family. We are grateful beyond words that we made it out alive, but now we are left with nothing, starting from scratch with heavy hearts and no place to call home. 
 
We are humbly asking for your help during this devastating time. Your kindness can help us rebuild our lives and provide the necessities we so desperately need clothing, essential medication, food, temporary shelter, and eventually, a new place to call home.
