Cure for Tes' Hero

I'm 37, rare to have stomach cancer at my age. I'm also a single parent, half native-American, half Irish, full-time student, and part-time worker at my local Veterans Services office. I'm an 8-year Navy vet working on a degree in biomedical engineering technology. I want to help make machines and equipment that will cure people of cancer, and other diseases.
I grew up without electricity in a place many would consider a 3rd world country. I read a lot, mostly science fiction---I think Frank Herbert was a genius, way before his time. I miss playing softball and sparring---Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing are my favorite martial arts.
I enjoy seeing and hearing my child read books meant for kids twice her age, sharpening her negotiation skills, and doing what she wants to despite what the kids around her are doing. Like many other parents, I want to give my child the opportunity to learn everything she can. I hope she will do great things someday. I hope I will be there to congratulate her when she does those great things, and I hope to have done things she will be proud of me for, too.
