Displaced: Refugees in Jordan

Dear Friends and Family.
I recently met a young Syrian teenager who immigrated to the US just last year. He was volunteering for UNHCR, an agency whose primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. He was attempting to spread awareness while registering people to donate - he stood holding a photo of Zaatari, which is home to over 100,000 Syrian refugees. The teen was so moved to hear of my upcoming travel plans that he became tearful.
I am honored to have the opportunity to travel to Jordan this May to work with several different local organizations and visit Zaatari (pending access). The point of the trip is to engage with the community to better understand both refugee and Jordanian needs. The small group I am traveling with will be working with women and children for two weeks. Our hope is to better understand the conditions and the scope of the complex issues. From there, fellow travelers and I will engage in post-action work for the following year - during this time we will strive to implement a degree of change and promote awareness based on the learnings from the trip.
What I am asking for:
First, thank you for taking the time to read this. Please make time to watch the video and look at the news links, one of which was released earlier this week.
Second, if you are able to make a contribution towards this trip fund, it will be GREATLY appreciated. The money will go towards the trip fee as well as art supplies and other materials for activities with the children.
