TurningBear is a Fine Artist who has a strong desire to start an art academy, but has been detoured due to an acute Illness which started with a life threatening food poisoning on Feb 27th 2014. This lead to an obstruction in his small bowel from all the inflammation from the poison which lead to the need of hospitalization requiring nothing to eat for days except IV fluids and IV antibiotics. During that time he lost a total of 27 pounds and very weak as you can imagine. He has been doing intensive rehabbing, balancing his nutrition, hydration, walking to gain strength, resting, doctor and therapy visits, and a little studio work each day. Every day he has seen a little bit more progress in recovery while remaining fatigue throughout much of the day. Then Friday night 4/4/14 he never made it to sleep. He started with severe chest pain at 11:30 PM and pressure in his chest that radiated to his teeth. We called 911 for help and he was in serious heart trouble. He had several blockages in the main arteries in the heart, was in surgery for 3 hours, now has THREE new "stents" which opened up the blockages and are Giving Life to him!! He suffered a Myocardial Infarction known as a "Heart Attack".
On April 14 , he was finally diagnosedwith Parasites in his Small Intestines that also invaded his Heart. The Dr's believe he contacted them from Serrano Peppers which we purchased at the local store , produce in from Mexico. He began treatment with aggressive antiparacitic medicine and then progresses to the most toxic antiparasitc on the market to detox them, Ablendazole. On June 11th he had a full Cardiac Arrest needing resuscitation in the ER. He then proceeded to have a partical bowel obstruction from the parasites. He was too weak to endure sugery so an NG tube was inserted to take the pressure off the bowel , resting it and he was started on Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) IV as his weight loss was now 45 pounds. On July 11th he was diagnosised with Pnumonia on both sides of the lungs from an antiarrhythmic heart medication they gave him for 3.5 weeks. This put him on the ventalitor for 10.5 weeks in ICU with several days of him being close to leaving us on earth. On Spetember 24th he was was as stable as he would get to endure exploratory surgery to resolve the obstruction in the Small Intestines bowel. The Dr sucessfully removed 12 inches from the Small Intestines and clearing much of the damage caused by parasites in the bowel.
On October 10th he was transfered to a facility to help him wean off the ventilator. There were medication errors on him, feell out of bed twice in the night, and contracted MERSA pnumonia which took him back to ICU. All of this in a 2 week peroid while have a close RN advocate at his side for 16 -18 hours per day.
He was back in ICU for 3 weeks and stablized. Then transfered to a rehabilation facility in Scottsdale, AZ to complete his weaning off the ventilator and begin to recover his strength after being in bed for nealy eight
( 8) ) LONG TRAMATIC ,DEBLITATING, LIFE THREATING months.
On December 13th, he began to experince chest pains that reminded him of his experince when he had his Cardiac Arrest onJune 11th. This took him to the ER where he was admitted for 2 weeks finding a 98 % heart blockage in his right coranary artey. Another "stent" was put in which make five ( 5 ) now. He had a complete and thorough heart evaluation preformed while hospitalized including the electrical functionality of the heart. His heart has half its output capacity. His trach was taken out on Dec 24th and on Christmas Eve he at his first offical meal after not eating for 6 months.
December 30th, 2014 he was transfered to a new reahbilatation facility in Scottsdale where he has been restoring his physical health and rehabbing to regain his strength and heart functioning capacity.
The prior 11 months has taken a toll on TurningBear's body. Nevertheless, we are praising God for sustaining TurningBear's life and permitting him to still be with us. We are asking the Lord, if it pleases Him, for a full and complete recovery. We are trusting in God's provision and praise Him for answering our prayers thus far.
TurningBear's two hospitalizations and medical bills are enormous from the complication of this food poisoning, parasites and complications from this horrable parasitic infection. He had no insurance until June.
