My name is Tom Edwards, I'm Vance Garcia's uncle.
Many of you know Vance if you are reading this, but in case you don't, please watch our video that explains who he is and the two things that changed his life- 1. His love of music and DJ-ing, and 2. The terrible accident he was in about a year ago.
In regard to his injuries and rehabilitation, the good news is that he doesn't need any assistence with his care.
Initially when he started getting back into Producing/ DJ-ing, he let me know that because of some vision deficit, that he was not able to work with the monitor on his small laptop. Many of us got together and pitched in for a much bigger screen for him, and some speakers as well. But we ran into additional problems.
Basically his computer is just OLD. It's a macbook, more than a decade old, that honestly wasn't top of the line even then. This GoFund me campaign is to get him a new computer that he can run the software he needs without glitching and lagging.
Vance is a Mac OS guy, and since we already have a big monitor for him, our goal is to get him a maxed out Mac Mini with the following specs:
3.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz)
16GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
2TB Fusion Drive
Our fund-raising goal is exactly what it would take to get him this computer less the amount of tax. But we have contingencies in mind.
If we raise more, we'll get him a laptop (so that he could take it to shows) or maybe even a Mac Pro that should get him enough power to get through the next decade or more of making and mixing music for you. If we raise less than our goal then we will build him a PC with as much power as the final contribution total will give us.
Many of you have asked how you can help. Believe it or not, getting back to music is everything I have been hearing Vance talk about in the past year. Honestly it's the first thing on his mind, above even his terrible injuries. If you know him then I already know he's a hero to you like he is to me. Please give a little or a lot as you can. Hoping we can get this to him by Christmas.
