Comparing Health in South Africa

This summer I take off to complete a practicum in South Africa. I will be working for part of the time in a rural area in the northern part of South Africa and (hopefully) will be spending half of my time in Cape Town. I hope to compare the healthcare system and resources between the rural and urban communities in South Africa. 

For my project, I will be looking at a tool used to measure wellness in chronically ill children. Case management in rural South Africa is largely based on hospice care - so health workers visit sick children in their homes. I would like to compare that intensive outreach based case management with the more traditional referral system that is used in the city healthcare system as well as the management of chronic illness in the shanty-town that borders Cape Town.

In order to embark on this very exciting quest, I need more money than my empty grad-school wallet contains. Every little bit helps and I really appreciate your support - big or small!
