Wife Living in Pain

Donation protected
My wife Marya has been having health problems for the last few years. She underwent a cardiac ablation in 2012 to help fix a heart arrythmia and recently had silicone breast implants removed in an effort to increase her well being and reduce her pain. She has suffered a number of symptoms in the past few years, which seem to point to silicone disease (a systemic reaction to silicone, much like an autoimmune disease). That concern coupled with chronic back pain from the weight of the implants, led to their removal. Her heart arrythmia is back, and since January, 2014, she has had constant pain on her left side, in her shoulder blade, arm, chest, and now throughout her entire left side. Thr physical therpist said her shoulder blade muscle (serratus anterior) is not holding her shoulder blade to her rib cage, and the chiropractor noticed narrowing between her spinal vertebrae, which may be putting pressure on a nerve.

It would be easier to tell you what hasn't gone wrong with her. She has had asthma attacks, constant congestion, shortness of breath, tightness in her chest, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, extreme fatigue, nightsweats, vertigo, gastrointestinal problems, swollen lymphnodes, joint pain and swelling, back pain, and blood in urine.  Most testing has been normal, with the exception of Vitamin D and Cortisol levels in her blood. Doctors have been puzzled, and suggested that it might be fibromyalgia (which really means they don't know what's going on). At this point she has had MRIs, CT scan, bloodwork, chiropractic care and physical therapy. Our next step is to do E.M.G testing and perhaps a nerve study, so we can continue to try and pinpoint her pain. While the implant removal has helped her to feel a bit more comfortable, and we are hoping we will continue to see improvement of her systemic symptoms once her body has fully gotten rid of any traces of silicone, she is still suffering 24 hours a day. We are really hoping that they will find a nerve that is the culprit for most of this pain on her left side, and be able to treat it. On top of all this, it is time for her to see a cardiologist for her mitral valve prolapse and arrhythmia, and she just had a root canal!

These health problems have dibillitated her. She can't even lift a cup of sugar because of the pain, much less take our kids to the park or pick up our three-year-old. Spending time with the family has become very difficult.  She can't be active with the kids and since Max has been born, has spent most of her time working, being sick in bed, or trying to work while she's sick.

Through all of this, I have been unsuccessfully trying to find a good, full time job, while Marya has been the main bread winner. She suffers with pain pills and ice packs through a 40-hour-a-week-job, which doesn't even really pay the bills. To top it off, she is an independent contractor with no job security, or paid time off, and has missed a lot of work for doctor's appointments, surgery, and for days she was in just too much pain to work. She is currently in danger of being replaced at work, for missing so many days due to illness.  We spent most of our tax return money to pay for her surgery, out of pocket.

At this point, we don't know how we will continue getting by each month, and we are in medical debt big time! None of Marya's implant removal surgery was covered by insurance, nor were her spinal MRIs or dental work. Just our portion of insurance covered expenses after deductible, is still breaking the bank! We HATE to ask for charity-our parents have already helped us so much-more than they can afford to, but we don't know what to do at this point. With so much financial insecurity, mounting medical bills, and with no end in sight, we are exhausting all avenues to afford to get her better so that she can enjoy her life again and be active with the kids. If it won't put you out to help us, we will be forever grateful and can hopefully return the favor someday.
