Adoption Fundraiser

Hello family and friends!

Drew and Kate here, and we want to share with you some wonderful news-we're going to grow our family through adoption!! This decision has been a year or so in the making and now that we have settled into our new home in Florida, we are overjoyed to continue our adoption journey and hope to be... blessed with a beautiful bundle of heaven soon after. We have been trying for a healthy pregnancy since 2009. It has taken us awhile to heal from our fertility battles, and it took time to understand, accept, and trust in God's path for us.

Our journey leading up to adoption started January 2009. Drew had been home six months following his first deployment when we found out we were expecting. Joy and happiness filled our hearts and we were over the moon excited! Yet a week later, I miscarried and our world turned upside down. Just seven weeks into the pregnancy and we had to say our tearful goodbyes. We felt completely empty. About a year later, with the help of a fertility specialist, we were pregnant again! Joy washed over us, but as soon as we could digest the news, the physician diagnosed the pregnancy as ectopic. Once again, we had to let go of a piece of us that we'll never get to welcome into the world. Instead of trying to achieve another pregnancy right away, Drew and I took time to heal and find peace in our lives. We prayed, went to church, and tried to seek out the answers we needed. We started to try for another pregnancy, when an opportunity came to us through another fertility specialist. We both agreed to give it one more try and lo and behold, we were blessed with a pregnancy! A few weeks after hearing the news, we went into the physician's office for a sonogram to hear the heartbeat. Our breath caught in our throat until we heard that beautiful thumping sound. It sounded perfect to us, but our doctor was concerned as it was slower than it should be at that stage. We returned for another sonogram, and despite our prayers and hopes, the heartbeat could not be found. Our hearts sank; we were devastated.

Although Drew and I have suffered a lot, we have gained a lot. Our marriage is stronger and more open. Our faith has deepened, and our appreciation for life has grown anew. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know well the plans I have in mind for you. Plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope." Understanding and trusting in this passage has given us strength in knowing that we will have a child one day. It's also helped us find our way to adoption ♥

Many of you may know that adoption can be expensive. To help us with the costs of adopting we are exploring fundraising options. We are working with an awesome agency here in the U.S. and they have been fantastic with us and our military lifestyle. We are looking forward to adopting a baby from the states and giving him or her all the love, faith, and support they deserve. We have so much love to share and can't wait to share our lives and become parents!

Heartfelt thanks to all of you who have taken the time to read our story. Your support in our decision means a lot and we want you involved in our journey.

Love and peace,
Drew and Kate
