83 West Hurricane Hermine Recovery

Donation protected

I am Kelly Lehr (from the Baltimore, MD area), aunt to Shannon Sykes, proprieter of 83 West, a restaurant opened in the spring of 2016 by chef, Jordan Keeton, and his girlfriend, Shannon Sykes.  They spent months and month, renovating the old restaurant to make it a showplace on Cedar Key.

This video is showing their actual restaurant, so you can see the impact was immediate and devastating!

Business was picking up when Hurricane Hermine hit on  September 1st.

They lost their entire 1st floor, the windows were blown out, all of the chairs washed away, the new bar (which they spent tons of money refinishing) was destroyed, along with their dreams.

While setting up the business, they looked into hurricane / floor insurance.  However, the premium was $100,000 a year with a $100,000 deductible.  It is outrageous that insurance comanies are allowed to charge such ridiculous amounts of money.  Anyway, I digress.  Since this was a new business, they didn't have the funds for such a high premium yet.  So, insurance wasn't purchased.

Now, they need to rebuild their new restaurant along with their lives.  The funds donated will help the rebuiding process for the restaurant, which includes, all new chairs and furniture, rebuilding the bar, water damage mitigation and restoration, as well as rebuilding the outside deck, which was completed destroyed.  If anything is left, it will be used to purchase the outrageous hurricane insurance premium.

Any immediate donations you can make to help Jordan and Shannon begin to rebuild will be greatly appreciated.  They will be forever grateful if you would join them in thier mission to reopen their restaurant as quickly as possible.  With the loss of business, neither of them have any income (nor any way to get income) at this point.

Jordan Keeton, Shannon Sykes, and Jill Streett (their bar manager) have poured their blood, sweat, and tears into making 83 West into successful business.  Unfortunatley, mother nature had other plans.  These three college graduates have moved from their families' homes to start their lives anew in Cedar Key.  Won't you be the good Samaritan that helps them rebuild?

Besides their gratitude, I will be most grateful and forever blessed if you would join in helping rebuild a life-long dream as well as their personal lives!

Thank you!
