Amelia's journey to fight cancer

Donation protected
This page has been set up by Amelia's Army in an effort to update everyone on Amelia Woody's battle with a rare form of childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma.   The funds raised here will be used to help lessen the financial burden for Amelia's family and for travel to chemo and other frequent appointments in Danville.  Here is a little of Amelia's story:
On March 21st, 2014   7 mth old Amelia spent 6 long hours in surgery to remove a tumor that was growing in her spine.  The surgeons were able to remove the portion of the tumor in her spine that was compressing the spinal nerves but thought it was too risky to remove the remainder of the tumor that was outside of the spine.  She was officially diagnosed with Neuroblastoma a few days later once test results came back.  The plan and hope is that with chemotherapy the remaining part of the tumor will respond well and can be shrunken down to a less risky size to remove in a second surgery.  While the doctors are not optimistic about Amelia's chances of recovering the ability to use her legs everyone who knows her is unconvinced and truly believes she has the strenth and the fighter attitude to prove them wrong.
On March 29th Amelia wrapped up her first round of chemo like a champ.  On April 16th Amelia went back to Danville for her 2nd of 4 scheduled chemo treatments.  May 7th was the 3rd round.  May 28th was the 4th round.  June 23rd Amelia went go for her 5th round.
Scans performed in mid June showed that the tumor is responding to the chemo and is about 50% smaller but still requires further chemotherapy so a total of 8 cycles will be done.  Every round is a little harder on her body but she's fighing like a champ and continues to amaze everyone (family, doctors and therapists)

She is fighting like a champ!
