82ND AIRBORNE CHAPTER, EL PASO, TX

Donation protected
The 82nd Airborne Chapter of El Paso, Texas is in need of financial assistance to keep from having to close it doors to Members, Associates and Friends of the Airborne. Due to a complaint filed against the unit for an unpaved parking lot, the local Airborne unit is having to raise the required finances to pave the lot which lies adjacent to the main facility structure. Due to the excessive amount of work required (adherence to city plans, asphalt paving, striping, construction of an adjoining sidewalk, ponding area, landscaping, etc.) the estimates provided by a Veteran Friendly Contractor is in the neighborhood of between $50,000 and $55,000. The City of El Paso has provided a six month extension to rectify the situation so the unit's current status is DIRE.
This non profit organization is internationally recognized and is one of the most highly regarded Veterans Organizations operating in the U.S. With a membership of over 300 individuals this community friendly organization provides valuable support to area schools, the El Paso Community College, The University of Texas at El Paso, the Military Installation of Fort Bliss, Texas, the Historic Cemetery of Concordia, the City & County of El Paso, U.S. Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, and the community in general. The Veterans also provide Educational Scholarships on an annual basis with five area scholars having received financial support for the current year.
Prior to the current health crises, the organization would provide triennial Airborne Conventions, titled: SUN CITY "ALL AIRBORNE" FIESTAS, which welcomed international visitors to the city for a five day, fun filled event of activities and tours which also provided a tremendous financial boost to the local economy.
Also, whenever active duty Airborne units train in the Texas/New Mexico area, the soldiers are invited to the facility for a day away from their duties for a meal, entertainment and relaxation. In November of 2019, over 400 Paratroopers from one of the 82nd Airborne Division Units which had been training in the area, were welcomed to the El Paso Chapter for a day long event with their Veteran Airborne counterparts.
Your generous assistance would be greatly appreciated and would serve to allow these Honored Airborne Veterans to continue their valuable support of the local community.
