Slobodan and Nada, along with their sister Vera, were born as healthy triplets. Due to their slight prematurity, they were placed in incubators - and that's when the unthinkable happened...A mistake on the hospital’s part allowed an overdose of oxygen - leaving Slobodan and Nada blind.
Completely distraught, their parents, Dragiša and Zorica, searched everywhere for answers and treatments. Diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity or better known as Incubator Blindness, and their options limited in Serbia, Slobodan and Nada’s parents brought them to America when they were 17 months old for major eye surgery. Unfortunately, the hopes of restoring their children's eyesight were short-lived. The procedure was only able to save their Peripheral Vision - allowing them to see shadowy figures but still leaving them without Central Vision or the ability to see in color.
Slobodan and Nada went on to live their lives letting God pave the way. Following their love for singing, they joined their church choir, made friends along the way, and finished school with honors. Nada has taken her love for singing and is turning it into a career. Both Nada and Slobodan love helping others and “making people happy” is their main goal in life. Slobodan is fluent in 6 languages and provides tutoring worldwide.
As Nada and Slobodan have gone on with their lives they have never stopped searching for a way to restore their eyesight. Now by the Grace of God, and through specialists at the University of San Francisco in California, Nada and Slobodan have the opportunity to regain at least 30% of their eyesight! A proven procedure with Silicon Retna Replacement, Implant of Electronic Stimulators, and possible use of Stem Cells would restore their Central Vision and allow them to see in color! With just the use of glasses after surgery, Nada and Slobodan can go on with the lives they've always dreamed of! Reading...Driving...Seeing the smile on a loved one's face...Sharing in the awe of a sunrise or sunset...Watching the seasons change... In order for this miracle to occur, Slobodan and Nada need to raise $200,000 for each of their surgeries as well as traveling expenses and stay for at least a month (follow up visits) - totaling in costs of $420,000.
