Love for Molly
Hello Everyone-
This page was created by myself (Keri - Mary's cousin) to help Mary & Tim with both the financial and emotional support of Molly while she waits for a new heart. For those of you that don't know, sweet, precious little Molly was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). That basically means left ventricle of the heart is severely underdeveloped. For the last 2-1/2 years, Molly's life has been hospitals, medicines, IV's pokes, open heart surgeries, labs, and even more medications - things no child should ever have to be put through. Mary & Tim have changed their entire life to support their sweet baby girl and have had a wonderful support system.
Molly has undergone two procedures to assit with the reconstruction of her heart; the Norwood procedure and the Glenn procedure. Normally, there is a third surgery that would help Molly, but do to prior complications she is no longer elgible for that surgery. The only option left is for a full heart transplant.
Both Mary and Tim knew that a heart transplant would be in Molly's future, they just didn't think it would happen so soon or so fast. She was placed on the National Registry for a heart about 6 months ago as a status 2 (that means Molly still lives at home). Last week, things got a little dicey for sweet Molly and she was having significant issues breathing. After a doctor check-up, new diaretic drugs to try, elevated blood labs, Molly began vomiting. That is one of the first signs of congestive heart failure. It was at that point, Molly got a first class ride up to Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) where she will be full time until she recieves a new heart.
That's where we all come in....the support system that has helped Mary and Tim for the last two years has been incredible. And we need to keep it going! At this point, Mary and Tim will be living FULL TIME at Children's Hospital Los Angeles -They will need to focus 100% of their time and energy on Molly and worry less about insurances, co-pays, food, gas, etc. Please help support Mary, Tim and most importantly Molly. Remember, every amount counts!
