Help Mikey Get a Home

On Feb. 2nd 2010 Mikey was born.  Mikey developed like most babies, even ahead of the curve until he was about 15 months old.  Suddenly, for no apparent reason, he stopped developing all the normal skills, language, motor control, and even regressed with some things such as eating solid foods.  After lots of talks with doctors and developmental therapists, Mikey was diagnosed with Autism.  Mikey just celebrated his 4th birthday and is finally starting to make whole sentences, eats reasonably well by himself- though with food allergies such as milk and gluten, and he is looking forward to qualifying for an equine therapy program.  Mikey shares a small one bedroom with his Mom, and they are becoming quite cramped.  We want to raise the funds so Mikey and his mom can have a real home.  He needs room to spread out and have an actual place to play with all of his toys, a place for the speech, occupational, and play therapists to come over and work with him and his own room with his own bed.  With Mikey's developmental delays, his Mom works only part-time so she can spend time with Mikey reviewing what he has learned in therapy.  They work with flash cards, play with various textured things (such as dry beans in a shoe box, play dough, and spend lots of time playing in the bathtub with water), and work on practicing pedaling his tricycle to strengthen his coordination.
