The Smith Brothers Posse

As most of you know we started our journey with spina bifida a little over 2 years ago. Our 2nd son Riggan was diagnosed when we were 20 weeks pregnant. Not knowing what the outcome would or could be we chose to continue with our pregnancy. We were blessed with Riggan February 23, 2012. He then had the spinal repair after 24 hours. He was in the hospital for 9 days. He then had a shunt placed at 6 weeks to help regulate the fluid on the brain. He has 3 specialist he continues to see, Neurologist, Urologist and Orthopedics. He is currently catheterized every 4-6 hours. He is also in physical therapy once a week at West Texas Rehab and has made tremendous progress. He wears AFO braces on his legs and has just started walking by himself!!! He has been a true blessing to our entire family and everyone he meets!! We are expecting our 3rd son April 10, 2014. He too has been diagnosed with spina bifida. We have been seeing a specialist in Ft. Worth which will deliver him as they did Riggan. At this point we are unsure of the prognosis. We will know more of what he will be challenged with after he is born and has the spinal repair after 24 hours. We know that God has special plans for our family and that he continues to bless us everyday!! And that he is the Great Physician!! We will be in Ft. Worth starting April 9, 2014 until they feel he is healthy enough to bring home!!! Thank you in advance for all the thoughts, encouraging words and prayers most of all!!
