UPDATE AS OF 11/7/2014:
For those of you that are new to the Team Layne story here is a bit of a summary about this Incredibly strong little girl. Layne was born with HLHS, a very rare heart defect where the left half of her heart doesn't develop. After 6 surgeries (3 being open-heart) before the age of 3, she blew through recoveries and was well on her way to a seemingly normal life. On 3/31/14 she suffered sudden cardiac arrest... 4 TIMES! Drs did not even think she'd live, let alone have any brain function. She was put on life support and placed into an induced coma for 48 hours. When she awoke, Drs would be looking for any signs of brain function (breathing, reflexes, pupil dilation, etc). On day 3, she opened her eyes and asked for milk! Saying "hi" and "I love you", everyone knew they were witnessing a miracle. 185 days later on October 1st with no end in sight..the miracle came LAYNE GOT A HEART!!! The surgery went great and she was making great progress. She even sent all her supporters a “thank you” video letting us all know she got a new heart. October 19th Layne developed an arrhythmia. The doctors have stated multiple times that this is not a sign of rejection. So as the days pass and the Knight family continues to sit by their daughters side this family is still in desperate need of love, support and prayers. They still have so many questions that need to be answered. With multiple medications needed to just get Layne through a day and all the medical assistance she will need down the road this family is in for a very long and tiresome road to a full recovery. So i ask of you as the holiday season approaches will you please say an extra prayer for this strong and courageous family? Keep Layne in your hearts and remember she is INCREDIBLE!! All the support and donations this family can get will be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: Little miss Layne is off life support, awake and up with assistance!!...but not out of the woods yet!! She is now on the transplant list for a new heart. Her little heart isn't going to pull through. So with this being said her wonderful mommy will continue to be off work and by her side 24-7 while daddy works and tries to be 2 places at once. Layne will remain in the hospital until a new heart comes along because her heart just isn't strong enough to go home. So more time away from work and home for these wonderful parents. Everything for this family has been shifted and all the support has been greatly appreciated! The power of prayer is amazing!! So please if you could squeeze more prayers in and keep up the support the Knight family appreciates it greatly!
