Gary Collins memorial fund

Hi Everyone,
I am running the Edinburgh Marathon on 25th May 2014 in the memory of my friend Gary Collins and raising money for the Cheshunt Boxing Club where Gary was a coach. Gary suddenly collapsed on 2nd January 2014 and unfortunately passed away 5 days later leaving his family and friends in shock and full of sadness.
Gary was a very active coach at the Cheshunt Boxing Club and also a very keen runner and cyclist. Gary boxed from when he was a very young boy up to professional standard. He was an inspiration to everyone and he has changed lives of many young people, whoever met Gary (and I was the lucky one) was affected by him in a very positive way. He was a person who would always be there with help and advice on training, his knowledge of the sport was unquestionable and he helped everyone who would ask for coaching and support. Recently one of his students was invited to train with the Team GB which was a huge dream of both of them. Unfortunately that happened after Gary's collapsed. I could write about Gary a lot but I leave it as that: he IS a huge inspiration, WILL live forever in our heart and his legacy will NOT die. Gary it was a privilege to know you and I know there are lots of people who will keep your memory alive.
I have decided to raise money for the Cheshunt Boxing Club as I know the money will go into the right hands and provide support for young people. Cheshunt Boxing Club was set up over 40 years ago and was funded by Charlie Bliss, nowadays is run by Mark Bliss who is Charlie's son and the head coach. Gary was one of the coaches at the club and spent lots of years coaching, advising and helping young boxers. Cheshunt Boxing Club is a great sport club, friendly and open to everyone. There is no fixed membership fee, boxers pay accordingly what they can afford and the main funds stream is through organising boxing competitions and sponsorship. However coaches never turn away anyone even if they can't contribute at all. Therefore I ask you please sponsor me and let Mark and other coaches keep doing their great job. In particular I am raising money towards upgrading their mini bus (so it can go into London zones) which is used to take boxers to/from competitions. I hope with your help we can all achieve the goal and keep Gary's memory alive.

Thank you so much
