Burundi, a land-locked nation in Southeast Africa, is one of the five most impoverished countries in the world. Broken by years of civil war, genocide, tribal warfar and HIV/AIDS epidemic, Burundi has also been ranked the #1 hunger-stricken nation according to the 2013 results of The Global Hunger Index.

Tirzah International has been working in the region to provide direct assistance by training women leaders, providing food, summer camps, micro-enterprise training, and most importantly sharing the life-giving truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I am raising money to join the team for 10 days this summer in Burundi as a part of their micro-enterprise training to widows. This training provides women with the tools and skills to create thier own small business in tailoring, hair dressing, soap or jewelry making. These businesses create the incomes needed for widows to support themselves and their children and begin the slow process to economic recovery.
The trip will be a small group of believers from all over the country, but my travel partner will by my dearest mother-in-law, Sally Staff. Yes, Sal and Al are going to Africa together!
The total cost of the trip is $3,700 but I have already received a $1500 scholarship to serve as my first payment. That leaves us with the remaining $2,200 to raise!
