Those that have had the good fortune to know Betty Timmins realize what an incredible force of love, care, and commitment she has brought to the countless critters and the community of Kuranda.
She has rescued, raised and rehabilitated hundreds of injured and orphaned wildlife and has been an inspiration to so many people, both here in Australia as well as to all her young volunteers from overseas.
Betty now faces her own journey, being on the other side of the ‘care’ equation, as she has suffered a massive stroke and now it is her that needs the care and support.
She requires all the financial help we can muster to get the best care she deserves.
This bed system will give her room to move more comfortably and gently, and give her the best odds for a chance of more complete recovery. Betty has retained a great mental capacity as well as the use of her right hand and arm so there is a good possibility that she can get back to having a reasonable quality of life and be here to tell us all what to do for a while.
There will be many other costs coming in as well, so please give what you can, and for those who are unable to help financially, please share, and remember, your visits mean the world, right now, as Betty is a social creature and knowing we won’t let her be lonely through this is so important.
